Taking flight from the delayed Steampunk Dreams festival, Convergence is proud to sponsor Upright Egg’s Songbird. Upright Egg’s Theatre Company presents Songbird , a new company-created event! Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Nightingale” and real and alternate histories. Inventor Zebulon Volt finds himself stymied in a steampunk world, his present eclipsed by an unrequited past. Through movement, live music, and puppetry Zebulon scientifically observes and engages in a Victorian world of dichotomies: nature/machine, love/loss, and healing/sacrifice.

Friday June 17th – Opening Night Gala! A party! A performance by Bad September, retro-futurist steam-rockers!
Show starts at 8 and Convergence will be there!

Due to the tornadoes in North Minneapoils, Pierre Bottineau is offering additional computer resources to affected residents. Go there if you were affected by the storms and need help with insurance, internet access, fax machines, or other communication needs.

This means however, our meeting had to be moved to Nokomis Library.

Every once in a while we’re going to invite you to Converge Upon the event itself—in July we will of course be Converging Upon CONvergence, the highlight of our social calendar! Before that, we invite you to Converge Upon a conversation about our convention committee leadership, to meet people and participate in the process.

On May 26 we invite you to join us at the ~~Pierre Bottineau Library~~ Nokomis Library, 6-8pm. Members of the CONvergence Steering Committee will host an information session about Steering Committee elections.

This will be the most inside baseball CU of the season; and we invite you to observe and contribute to how the convention leadership will take next steps for the 2012 planning year!

Converge Upon Sexy Librarian

Join us as we Converge Upon Sexy Librarian on opening night, Sat April 30, 7:30pm (That sounds dirty!) at The Minneapolis Theater Garage, 711 W Franklin Ave in South Minneapolis. Sexy Librarian: File Under Rock Musical is the next play from Joking Envelope and Twin Cities comedy favorite Joseph Scrimshaw, and it’s a musical!

A meek librarian lives in quiet frustration until she finds an ancient tome with a horrible spell and transforms herself into a beautiful monster. Whip off your glasses and shake out your hair for thisstereotype smashing twist on the classic Jekyll and Hyde tale. A rock musical about fantasy, obsession, and rockin’ the bookmobile after hours. Get ready for the total opposite of quiet in the library.

Converge Upon Intermedia Arts

Join us at the G.A.S.P! exhibition at Intermedia Arts on February 26th at 1:00pm.

G.A.S.P! (Gender Anarchy Sex Positivity) is a multi-disciplinary event with the purpose of exploring non-conforming gender roles and sex positive education through art and community organizing. G.A.S.P! hopes to create a safer space for everyone who does not fit into traditional gender roles by demystifying and celebrating these sometimes taboo topics.

Intermedia Arts is at 2822 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis. The gallery indicates they have posted the GASP show as intended for patrons 18-and-up.

Converge Upon Vali-Hi Drive-In

On Friday, September 17th, you’re invited to Converge Upon the Vali-Hi drive-in in Lake Elmo, Minnesota for movies, tailgating and fun with friends new and old! The box office opens at 7:00 pm, and the movies start at sundown.

The admission price is $8, cash only. There is an ATM on site, but the Vali-Hi doesn’t accept cards. Also don’t forget bug spray, any tailgating supplies you plan to bring and to wear your CONvergence gear so we can find each other!
